This little precious girl made her entrance into the world her way. I had been having such intense braxton hicks for so many days that I was wondering if she would ever come. We thought she was coming Tuesday night when the braxton hicks seemed to be more like contractions happening every 3 to 4 minutes but then they stopped. Over the next few days this happened again and again and then they would stop. They would not strong enough to be considered real labor but they did not feel good. Then came the day of Max’s party and I was getting everything ready-the goody bags and making his gluten free, dairy free, and soy free cupcakes. Just as I finished putting them in the oven I knew things has started to change but they still were not too bad…I just could not stand up for too long. So at 2 pm we got into the car to go and pick up the cake and the food trays for the party. The contractions were pretty regular at 3 to 4 mins apart and then they slowed down. We had called the doctor from the parking lot outside the Little Gym to see what we should do and she said to get some water and take a breath and see if they slow down. So I did that and made it through the party sitting down and taking video and pictures. Still at this point I did not think she was coming. I thought I still had a few days left in me. Plus I was so damn tired and just wanted to sleep that night. The party was amazing (pics soon to be posted) and Max had an amazing time. he was so damn cute with all his friends. Then we went home and I put Max to bed. At this point, I had to bend over during contractions but still they were not so bad. I came downstairs and laid down on the couch. 15 Minutes later I began shaking and could not stop. Scott tried to hold me but I was shaking so bad. We called the doctor, the doula and our sitter. We called my friend to come over until out sitter arrived and we headed off to the hospital. We got to the hospital around 10 pm and I was 7 cm dilated and 75% effaced. The contractions were still no so bad. Over the next 3 hours I did not move much in cm. I was checked and I was 8 cm and 100% effaced. I then had to get up and start moving around. I was so tired. But then things changed once I started moving around and then it was not so much fun. The laughing stopped and I was in the zone. I was in dee concentration and letting my voice bring the baby down. I was listening to my body. I was one with my baby. I was also in pain. Scott was amazing. he was with me through every contraction rubbing my back, giving me water, telling me he loved me. It was beautiful, scary and amazing. Then I was checked again and I was 10 cm and 100 % effaced but I still did not have the urge to push. I was on all fours on the floor moaning and staying in the moment. Her body was a little posterior towards the end because the back labor was tough but then she came around the curve of my pelvis and there was a sign of relief in my back but the burning down below. I had the urge to push finally. I was on all fours moaning through the pain. My bag of water broke and then crowned her head and then her head was out and then her shoulders. OUCH!! I pulled Samantha from between my legs to my chest and held my little baby close to my body. She was here and I did it naturally-no drugs at all. I did not even tear!! So she was born at 5:30 am at she was 6 pounds, 15 ounces and 19.5 inches long. (Same weight at max was when he was born and she was 1/2 an inch shorter.) We were so happy. Welcome Miss Samantha!
