Happy 21 Month Birthday Max!

Saturday, September 20th, 2008

Dear Max,

Each month I write about so much. Each month I swear you cannot be any cuter, any funnier, any smarter but still you are.

This month you have just grown up in so many ways. You never really threw a ton of tantrums but when you did they were tough but this month, except for the days where the teething was so bad, you have been able to work them out with me talking to you. I feel like you are able to calm yourself and regroup in ways that you were not before.

This month we started going to “Jewish School” for Mommy and Me Magic Moments. It is 2 hours long and you have teachers and designated play times and story time and arts and crafts. It is the first time you have been in scheduled play. I am watching you interact with the world and it is a delight. You love arts and crafts. You immediately go right to the table and wait quietly for the teacher. You spend a long time on your project and the teachers always comment how focussed you are.

You look more like a little man. Even when you were born you looked like a little man but now you do not look like a baby any more.

You have stepped out of your comfort  zone in so many ways. Even with the kids in the neighborhood, you are playing with them and trying to get over being shy. I have always supported you with these types of things. I know you do things when you are ready and I always let you know that we support you.

You adore your father and you mimic everything he does. You live to snuggle with your Dad and hug him. You guys watch Sesame street in the mornings while I am in the shower. You love to hold your dad’s hand and you love to just be near your dad.

You are still the sweetest boy and still the kindest. Even though you are figuring out how to navigate your way in the world with other kids-you still do not hit. You may push from time to time but not hit.

We have been talking a lot about your new sister coming in December. I tell you how you will always be my little special guy and that Mommy has enough love for you and the new baby. I tell you that in my eyes you will always be the little baby that I held the first moment after you were born in the hospital. I love you so much Max.

Now this video is of you picking apples the other day and I just loved watching you so much in action that I decided to post this in your letter. You did some picking but mainly you did apple organizing.

Our Big trip to New York City

We had an amazing time. We actually extended our trip for an extra day and it was so much fun. We stayed here. The hotel was amazing and so damn nice. Max slept every day till 7:45 or 8 am and we enjoyed the huge shower and the baths all over looking Union Square. The hotel room was beautiful and I could have lived there easily for a while.

Max, Julia (my sister) and I would walk through Union Square and visit the open market, which had all farm fresh food and pastries and breads. We would go and get breakfast at whole foods and then walk though the park and people watch. On another day, my sister and I took Max to Battery Park, where there were tons of play ground equipment , sand boxes and fountains. Battery Park is so nice because it is right on the Hudson River and so you get a really nice breeze during the day. A nice break from the city. (This is a common type of play ground for NYC and I wish we had them in Philadelphia). We met a lot of really nice people and of course played and played. We took the subway and Max loved watching the trains go by. Of course it was not fun lugging a stroller and a kid up and down those stairs. (keep in mind only a few stations have elevators) How stupid! Anyway, Max loved it. On the way to Battery Park, we also visited the site of the twin towers, where they are building a large open green space with fountains for those who were never found in 9/11.

We also playground hopped, which is what a lot of people in NYC do for fun with their kids. We walked to Washington Square Park and played in those fountains as well. Washington Square is near New York University so it is really nice and the brownstone homes are beautiful. I love this neighborhood.

We had wonderful food and a great time. Max was such a great traveler and loved being in the city so much. I have never had him in his stroller for 20 or 30 block walks but he was amazing. And it was such a treat that everyday at 12 pm he would fall asleep in his stroller for 2 hours and my sister and I would stop for lunch and then walk and talk and enjoy each other’s company. It was a great vacation.

PS. The last 2 days Max has been fussy and irritated. I guess he brought home some NYC attitude. LOL

The Long Beach Island Burger

Sunday, July 27th, 2008

Well we are back and it was wonderful. I actually was sad to come home. I have a real tough time getting back and adjusting to life. I think I just miss the family being together, like the way we are on vacation.

I figured that I would post a picture or video each day since we had such a good time. This post has to do with the food, but especially Max’s new love: BURGERS. Max stopped eating hot dogs a few weeks ago (nitrate free ones from Whole Foods) and since then we have struggled to find a good protein. He would eat turkey, chicken and beef so it has been hard finding the substitute. Keep in mind that Max loves yogurt but he is allergic to dairy and he is kind of picky when it comes to protein and so it is not easy. So here it is-Max loving his burger.

Every other day he would eat a burger but he was so funny about it- he would only eat the burger if it was cut in half and if it was still in good shape..the moment that the burger began to fall out of the bread-well he wanted the other half. The funny part about this whole video is that he is so busy watching the cars go by. We stayed in a part of the island called Harvey Cedars and so we could push the stroller to the nearby burger joint/market. So enjoy the video and there will be more to come.

Happy Valentine’s Day 2008!

Please take a walk down memory lane with me. I made this for Scott for Valentine’s Day. I wanted to give him something that he could not buy in a store. Enjoy. This was the song we danced to at our wedding.Click Here for my Video

This is my first video post. This was take on the airplane coming home from Naples, Florida. It was so funny. This is what happens when you have a tired baby whose parents are just trying to make the plane ride fun.
