THE PHILADELPHIA ZOO: MAX AND THE POLAR BEAR 4/2008

April 18, 2008

Today Max and I went on a trip to the zoo. We are very lucky to be near such an amazing zoo. We met our friends Monica and her little Max and enjoyed the nice weather. It was a little stressful at first because the zoo’s computers were down and people could not buy tickets. Of course I did not think to purchase my tickets online. Damn me. So we spent 30 minutes trying to make our guys feel happy while just sitting in a stroller in the heat. Yeah, it was not pretty but we made it through. I also thought I was so prepared but I forgot to take some fruit slices and carrots for Max to munch on. I took a bunch of snacks but I should have thought about the fruit and how it would keep him cooled off. Regardless of all of these things..watching Max adore the penguins, polar bears, monkeys, goats and sheep. Max adored feeding the goats and the sheep so much that I think we could have stayed there for 4 hours. It was a lot of fun. We then drove home and had lunch and then went to the playground for about an hour and a half. I had a few great conversations with some moms, sat under a tree with Max and ate an apple, played on the swings and enjoyed the sun. I felt like the best mom in the world today. I cannot believe that he is already going up the stairs to the slide by himself. He is communicating with other kids and he is just being a little boy. When did he get so big? Where has the time gone? As we were leaving the playground, Max turned around and blew a kiss at the slide. I almost died because I felt so much love in my heart. I am so lucky. I am sure you have those moments too.
