Pork Chop Update

March 19, 2007

We went and visited the amazing Dr. Daphne Goldberg because Max had a very small amount of blood stained mucous in his stool. It seems that Max has food allergies just like him momma. We figured he had dairy problems but now we are assuming it is soy, corn and wheat as well. I have always dealt with allergies to food as well so I was snot surprised. His Ped. said that most babies show signs of allergies but the parents do not know the warning signs. Max had cradle cap and drying of his scalp, a few red spots on his belly and neck. Not all babies  have the blood stained stool, which means that Max was straining to get the allergy out of his little body. The good part is that we know and now I can eat accordingly.

It is strange that I have known about my allergies forever but I have not problem cheating and dealing with the results but when it comes to Max, well let’s just say I am not willing to do that to him..just deal with the results. Daphne said that most adults who suffer fromm ulcers (I had 4 at the age of 14) and other stomach related issues are a RESULT of food allergies that went undetected. I do not want that for Max.

So we are going on vacation for our 1 year annivarsary and my 32 birthday and I know that I just cannot cheat for Max’s sake since I am nursing and plan to for a while. My hubby threw a surprise B Day bash for me and I had some icing (my favorite) and of course, Max broke out on his tummy (only 8 little red marks) and neck. But again, it is my kid and I wold do anything for him.

Wouldn’t you???

So he was 14 pounds and 25 inches. He has gained 1.5 pounds and grew 3/4 inches in the last 2 weeks. UGH, no wonder my back hurts. I carry him like a sack of potatoes to make it easier.
